Kalevi Pajatso Employment Project
Humans are born out of work. A person defines him or herself by their job; by who they help, and why. Work is me.
In the Kalevi Pajatso Employment Project, one man applied for over fifty different jobs—whatever was published in the Helsingin Sanomat recruitment pages in the Sunday, March 2nd edition.
Kalevi Pajatso Employment Project examines in practice what constitutes work in the 2010s in Finland. We ask what work demands of its workers; whether people are simply instruments playing out fancy-sounding but empty ideas; what are work’s moral, economic, and aesthetic requirements; and whether workplace presentation is anything more than branding.
The Employment Project is a program that aims to rehabilitate work and workers, drawing attention to concerns by different means: through researching recruitment processes in Finland, publishing writings, organising seminars, and stimulating concrete examples.
The Kalevi Pajatso Employment Project was funded entirely by its creators, so the project has nothing to do with any regional, municipal, national, political, or corporate body.
