Portraits of Finnish National Heroes
In 2002 Jaakko Veijola and Teemu Väätäinen had a co-exhibition at Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art called Finnish National Heroes. Heroes were portrayed in huge pixel artworks. The material used to make the pixel portraits was food: Nokia’s former CEO Jorma Ollila was made of honey and latex rubber, ski jumper Matti Nykänen of holy wafers and wine, rock star Andy McCoy of white and brown sugar cubes, and former president Urho Kekkonen of white velvet and Sisu candies.
